CBA Certification Criteria

The CBA Professional Achievement Certification Program

There is only one way to join the AICBA and that is as a Certified Board Advisor (CBA).

The Institute’s certification is currently open to all individuals from all professions, industries, government agencies as well as levels of experience who are interested and committed to actively working towards the professionalization of the Corporate Board.

The CBA is a senior level professional designation designed for the accomplished professional with demonstrated educational and career accomplishments.

Your eligibility to be Certified is based on a closely held, confidential point system which is designed to balance:

  • Education
  • Professional certifications and licenses
  • Professional, managerial and executive experience
  • Board directorship and advisory experience
  • Corporate crisis management exposure
  • Other significant leadership roles and/or accomplishments

In order to be certified, a candidate must have a minimum of four years professional experience and 100 CBA points. Points claimed for education must be from a recognized institution of higher learning.
